This training is required for all new HMIS users prior to system access.
HMIS 101
Welcome to the Pinellas Continuum of Care
Course Purpose
This course provides the foundation every HMIS user needs before entering data into the system. Participants will learn how the Pinellas Continuum of Care works, why HUD requires HMIS, how homelessness is defined, why accurate documentation matters, and how every HMIS user contributes to improving outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.
This is not a software training. Workflow-specific trainings will teach participants how to enter data into WellSky after they understand the purpose behind the information they are collecting.
This training covers:
Overview of HMIS and the Pinellas County Continuum of Care
The importance of data quality in HMIS
Privacy and security requirements
Client confidentiality and data protection
Release of Information (ROI) and informed consent
When and how to obtain client consent
Chronicity overview and why it matters
How to use the HMIS Help Desk
When to submit a ticket
What information to include
How tickets are reviewed and resolved
Overview of the HMIS access process
This training must be completed before HMIS access can be granted.

Please join the training on time. Users who join more than 15 minutes late will need to register for the next available session.
This training is interactive. Please plan to remain engaged throughout the session.
